Our long-range plan is finished. It was approved by the Board of Trustees, as well as the State Library Commission.
Many thanks to our local community leaders, our citizens and patrons for their input as to how the library is doing and how we can improve.
Our goals were determined with this process and over the next five years, the following five areas are where we will focus:
1. People: The Library will provide continuous, excellent services to the community through the efforts of an engaged Board of Trustees and a highly-trained staff, which recognize and utilize the talents of volunteers to best serve our community.
2. Facility: The Library will continue to ensure convenient access and a pleasant atmosphere, with appropriate and designated spaces to meet the changing needs of the community, especially senior citizens and young adults.
3. Funding: In order to ensure long-term viability and stabilize funding, the Board of Trustees will continuously utilize creative and alternative development of funding sources, such as planned giving and responsible budgeting.
4. Marketing: The Library shall be recognized as one of the leading resources within the community in the areas of General Information, Formal Learning Support, and Business and Career Information. Furthermore, the staff of the library will become well acquainted with the components of these responses. The community will have a high degree of awareness of all the services the Vienna Public Library offers. Copies of our goals and plan will be available at the library.
